Neck Pain Treatment in Stroud

Neck pain is one of the most common reasons people in Stroud look for a chiropractor. Whether it came on overnight, built up slowly at a desk, or followed an awkward movement, it can make sleeping, driving and concentrating genuinely miserable. At Stroud Chiropractor, Andrew Evans offers gentle, unhurried care for neck, shoulder and upper back pain.

How chiropractic can help with neck pain

Chiropractic care focuses on the relationship between your spine, nervous system and movement. For neck pain, that usually means assessing how the joints of the neck and upper back are moving, how the surrounding muscles are holding tension, and what your posture and daily habits are asking of them. Treatment is gentle and always explained before it happens.

Common neck problems we help with

Your first visit — £35 (usually £85)

Your first appointment is a consultation about your symptoms, health history and goals, plus a thorough clinical examination. There is no treatment at the first visit — it is about understanding what is going on and whether chiropractic is right for you. Book online or call reception on 01453 490475.

What happens next

If Andrew can help, he’ll explain what’s causing the problem and recommend a plan — how many visits he expects it to take, over what period, and what you should notice along the way. Most problems settle with a course of care rather than a single appointment, and many patients then choose to come back from time to time to stay on top of it.

And if chiropractic isn’t the right answer for you, we’ll say so and point you somewhere better.

Neck pain FAQs

Can a chiropractor help with neck pain?

Chiropractic care may help many people with neck pain through gentle assessment of the neck, upper back and shoulders, and careful adjustment where it is appropriate. Andrew will examine you first and tell you honestly whether he thinks chiropractic is the right option for you — and refer you elsewhere if it isn’t.

Why does my neck hurt when I wake up?

Waking with a stiff or painful neck is often linked to sleeping position, pillow height, or tension held in the neck and shoulders overnight. It usually settles in a few days. If it keeps happening, or the pain travels into your arm, it is worth having it looked at properly.

Is it safe to have your neck adjusted?

It is a fair question and a common worry. Andrew uses gentle techniques and will always explain what he is doing before he does it. He takes a full health history and carries out a thorough examination first, and he will not adjust your neck if he does not think it is appropriate for you. If you would prefer not to have your neck adjusted, say so — there are other approaches.

Can neck pain cause headaches?

Headaches that start at the base of the skull and spread forward are sometimes linked to the joints and muscles of the upper neck. A chiropractor can assess whether your neck is contributing. Headaches have many possible causes, so if yours are new, severe or changing, see your GP.

Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor in Stroud?
